Gaspard Darley from France writes:
Allow me to introduce myself: I am a great-grandson of the fascinating people you recently wrote about, Camillo Ricchiardi and Myra Guttmann, and I've stumbled upon your article while trying to do some genealogical research about this part of my ancestry.

I can read some Afrikaans (nothing to do with my origins, only because my wife is Dutch) and so was able to read it all with great interest. Some of the information in it I've known from family memory and previous research, some is new to me.

Mostly, what I have very little knowledge of and would love to research more are the origins and life story of Myra's parents. I would be very grateful if you could point me to the sources you used for writing that part of your article.

I'm really passionate about researching these fascinating characters and was very happy to read about them. And to answer the end of your article, Myra indeed died in 1969, in Callian, a small village in southern France where her youngest daughter, Elsa, had settled down.

Both she and the eldest daughter, Yolanda, had moved to France from Morocco in the 1960s.

Yolanda's three daughters, including my grandmother, are now fully French, but have kept the memory of their adventurous ancestors and of South Africa.
