Janet Lambrechts writes:
Sungardens Nursery School, which has been running for 38 years in the east of Pretoria, has been given notice by the Glen Methodist Church that from January 2010 they will require the use of the property currently occupied by Sungardens in order to provide programmes to the community. This means that we have to find new premises.

We are looking for another entity which would not only rent us property, but which would also be involved in the growing of the school as a Christian nursery school.

Sungardens was originally situated opposite the Garsfontein Post Office in grounds belonging to the Roman Catholic Church and was run by the nuns there. For the last 17 years it has been under the auspices of the Glen Methodist Church, but it is run by a board of parents and the Methodist minister, and is not owned by an individual or a church.

There are facilities for 100 children but in view of future legislation which might affect Grade R, this number may be less. There are five classes plus an aftercare class with six teachers, one administrator and six assistants. Staff members are paid from school fees. Holiday care and extramural activities are provided. A mothers’ committee arranges functions, outings, fund raising and outreach to an underprivileged foster facility. The school is well equipped with both indoor and outdoor equipment.

We would ask you to consider this and if you feel led to respond to this request please contact our administrator Franki Johnson at 012-361-6214 (mornings).

The Glen Methodist Church’s support is greatly appreciated.
