Boschkop’s Inspector Francois Nolte is busy building up a reputation for successful arrests. His latest success story includes arresting three suspects for attempted murder, possession of housebreaking equipment and reckless or negligent driving.

On Monday 22 June Insp F Nolte and Sgt A Smith were doing crime prevention patrols in the Faerie Glen area when they spotted a maroon Toyota Conquest driving slowly through the Faerie Glen area. As they approached, the three men in the Toyota fled the scene with the inspector and sergeant hot on their heels. The three men tried to drive the police vehicle off the road and collided with a white BMW on the corner of Hans Strijdom and Olympus Drive. At the next robot in Hans Strijdom Drive they collided with a silver Mercedes Benz that was driven by a 78 year old woman, who was later admitted in hospital for shock treatment.

After the collision, the three men jumped out of the vehicle and fled into the Dischem shopping centre. The two policemen fired warning shots at the suspects who kept running. They were arrested with the help of three security officials from different security companies.

The suspects, who are between the ages of 20 and 36, were charged with cases of attempted murder, possession of housebreaking equipment, and reckless or negligent driving.

The number of house-breaking incidents in Faerie Glen has dropped considerably since Insp F Nolte and Sgt A Smith started patrolling the area.
