The next public participation
meeting about the Mooiplaats
power line and substation
will take place on 8 February
at the Farm Inn, from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Mooiplaats residents are waiting in
suspense for a detailed response to
their queries about the Mooiplaats
power line and particularly a technical
evaluation of the alternative
location and routing suggestion.
Stephanie Webber from Seedcracker,
the company doing the
environmental impact study, sent
the revised minutes of the 26 October
public meeting to all affected
parties on 14 December.
Wolf Snyckers, chairman of the
Magalies-Bronberg Property-Owners
Association (MBPA), responded
to these documents by saying that
he failed to understand the significance
of the power line routing that
Stephanie attached.
He said that he didn’t recollect that
this particular routing was discussed
at the October meeting and
assumed it to be a subsequent,
unexplained revised draft.
Wolf said that all the alternative
routes discussed at the meeting or
being developed in response to the
comments received, will have to be
shown with a full rationale for the
particular layout, its advantages and
disadvantages, technically and environmentally,
plus its cost implications
so that the community can
form an informed opinion.
The next public participation meeting
will allow affected parties to
raise their views to ensure that the
relevant environmental and socioeconomic
concerns are addressed in
the environmental impact assessment
process.
If you wish to participate in the environmental
impact assessment process,
you can contribute comments
on the proposed Mooiplaats power
line and substation before 26 February.
