A new property owners association, the Magalies-Bronberg Property- owners Association (MBPA) has been founded. Members include land owners from Boschkop, Donkerhoek, Mooiplaats, Kleinfontein and Pienaarspoort who wanted to create an association to make their demands heard and their interests looked after.

Over the past two to three years, landowners in this area have developed a close sense of community. Although not adverse to change, this now makes it difficult for them to contemplate, without being properly consulted, any further uncontrolled changes to the comfortable and relatively safe world they have created through personal effort and collective actions.

This hard-earned habitat is increasingly under threat by property investors with little regard for the community or environment. Also looming is the anticipated rise in municipal taxes gulped by the bottomless financial pit that does not produce any public service or gain for those who have to pay. Ignorant officials can so easily destroy what they have not helped to create.

A few of these land owners got wind of the coming dangers and in the nights of restless sleep the outlines of a grand plan emerged. The same spirit that negotiates muddy roads and wards off evil criminals has also risen to the challenge of this new enemy.

They created a weapon that had the potential of addressing these dangers where they will have the biggest impact, namely the meeting chambers of the rich and powerful. As an integrated body with many limbs, this entity will enter these domains through the cracks and openings designed for that purpose by the laws of the land.

Now the call is being shouted from the Magalies and Bronberg mountains for all the landowners in-between to unite against everything disgracing our life style; against the unkempt roads we have to travel on; against unwise developments; against thoughtless abuse of the environment. With the MBPA we can benefit from our own deposits. We can have better infrastructure and wiser planning of any future projects.
