I would like to comment on the puzzle of Dead Man’s Loop and the name MacIntosh as published in your November edition.

About 30 to 35 years ago, when my son was in the Boy Scouts, the troop occasionally visited a small farm or holding that was situated somewhere in the area where Woodlands Boulevard and ‘Plastic View’ is today.

I can’t place the site exactly due to a lack of landmarks, but this was known to everyone as MacIntosh’s Farm.

I hope this information is of some use to you and not another dead-end.

Thanks, John. In the meantime we’ve heard from Carol Worsley from Macintosh, Cross and Farquharson Attorneys who said how surprised she was to read about their firm in the Bronnie. The firm will be 135 years old next year. Unfortunately Carol doesn’t know if the James William MacIntosh who drowned was a son of lawyer James MacIntosh. – Ed
